Fish oil Omega 3 fatty acids play an essential role in our body’s health and vitality. Find out the expert facts and scientific information that can help you choose the best fish oil supplements for an optimal and vibrant health.

Mainly found in fish oil Omega 3 fatty acids are an important part in a healthy diet plan. Omega 3 fatty acids play an essential role in brain functions, optimal heart functions, joints and other important functions in our body’s system.

Our body makes use of omega 3 fatty acid eicosanoids that control cell division and growth in the body. Fish oil Omega 3 fatty acids are the most easily used by the body. They are not produced by our body and therefore need to be supplemented from external sources of food.

Coronary heart disease is totally absent among the Eskimo community. What might be the reason for that? This question led to the study of fish oil Omega 3 by scientists. At first, the prevailing thought was that a diet rich in fat would lead to a greater incidence of atherosclerosis.

But then, the debate of good fat versus bad fat began. The diet of Eskimos was found to be rich in fatty fish such as salmon. This is quite different to the common Western diet which is rich in fatty beef, chicken and other types of meat that do not contain Omega 3 fatty acids.

Omega 3 fish oil lowers the triglyceride levels in the bloodstream. A high triglyceride level along with high cholesterol is the precursor to heart disease.

Medical experts state that a healthy diet should have a balance between Omega 6 and Omega 3 fish oil fatty acids. And the average Western diet is too rich in Omega 6 and very deficient in fish oil Omega 3s, as fish is not consumed in adequate quantities.

So, it becomes essential to add pure fish oil supplementation to a healthy diet in order to achieve the benefits of Omega 3 and keep the balance of Omega 6. The optimal ratio is considered to be 1:1, but the typical Western diet has a ratio of 20:1. It means that there is too much Omega 6 in their diet. Health experts say that this is a sign of a looming health disaster for millions of people.

So, what are the essential things that you should consider when buying fish oil Omega 3 supplements?

Firstly, look for purified or pharmaceutical grade fish oil in the supplements. This is necessary because the oceans are contaminated with a high level of pollution and toxic elements such as Mercury, PCBs, lead, etc, which are the result of decades of unabated Industrial pollution. Fish oil Omega 3 supplement that has been molecularly distilled will be free of such contaminants.

Secondly, look for fish oil Omega 3 supplements that contain high levels of DHA and EPA fatty acids. They are essential to provide optimal health benefits.

Visit my website to gain deeper insights into what makes the best fish oil Omega 3 supplements. Find out the amazing benefits that fish oils can give to your health and how they can give you a sharp mind and a healthy body most effortlessly.

Every once in a while you’ll stumble across an expert whose words and passion sink right into your soul and so it was the day I listened to Dr. Joseph Hibbeln of the National Institutes of Health on a radio broadcast as he explained why we have chronic inflammation and what it all means. Dr. Hibblen is a psychiatrist and lipid biochemist known as one of the world’s leading authorities on Omega 3.

When you cut your finger and it turns red, that’s inflammation of the good kind that rushes in to heal the wound. But when it gets out of control from the very food we eat (Omega 3 Seed Oil), inflammation turns in and attacks the body in dreadful ways. See TIME cover story, 2/04, Inflammation, The Secret Killer, Missing Link Between Heart Attacks, Cancer, Alzheimer’s and other Disease and What You Can Do About It.

What is Omega 3 seed oil? Dr. Hibbeln defines seed oils as “literally vegetable oils that have been squeezed from seeds and primarily those seeds are soybean oil overwhelmingly and to some extent, corn oil, safflower and other oils and the big deal is that in these oils the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega-3 fatty acids is about 10 to one, whereas in our diets and evolution that ratio was about one to one. So you had a one to one balance to inflammation when we were evolving and now it’s a 10 to one balance in favor of inflammation because of the predominances in the seed oils.”

So, we have Omega 3 from fish oil, and we have Omega 3 from seed oil, which correctly should be labeled Omega 6 but without making a fuss over the confusing distinction, when you see Omega 3 on products in your grocery store, ask yourself one question. Is the source of the Omega 3 on that product seed oil? You can’t very well put Omega 3 from fatty fish in cereal now, can you? And what do we need less of? Dr. Hibbeln explains why it is so critical to know the difference.

“Omega-3 fatty acids, (from fish oil) when those fats are swimming around in your blood stream and your immune system, they produce compounds which reduce inflammation and help to prevent heart disease; and the American Heart Association now recommends that people eat fish three to four times a week or take fish oil supplements to help prevent the progression of heart disease. It’s more than 38 peer-reviewed studies which have been systematically reviewed.

Omega -3 fatty acids are one of those two polyunsaturated fatty acids. Polyunsaturated simple means that it has many double bonds. The key here is that there’s two families of polyunsaturated fatty acids, the Omega-3 fatty acids which you find primarily from fish oil, and the Omega-6 fatty acids from seed oils – eventually the body converts them into a compound called arachidonic acid and arachidonic acid is good in low amounts, but in high amounts it makes a lot of inflammatory compounds. It makes compounds that make your joints ache, compounds that increase the inflammation in your blood stream and leads to arterial sclerosis.

How big a deal is arachidonic acid? It is such a big deal we’ve created billion dollar industries for the production of Vioxx and Celebrex and Ibuprofen, all of which their main purpose is to keep arachidonic acid from being converted into these inflammatory compounds. But remember, the origin of arachidonic acid is from what you eat. It’s from seed oils. Take away the seed oils or swap them out, your body will not be full of so much arachidonic acid and will not have a pro-inflammatory predisposition.”

And that makes me very glad I discovered the healing benefits of Omega 3’s From Fatty Fish (capitalized intentionally) a long time ago. I won’t buy an Omega 3-laced grocery store product today and add more of the wrong Omega 3 to the inflammation level in my body.

Omega-3 fatty acids are an essential nutrient, meaning that they are required for normal growth in children. However, it is the benefits to adults that have received more attention lately. Back in 2006, the United States FDA (Food and Drug Administration) gave what is called a “qualified health claim” to omega-3 fatty acids in the area of coronary heart disease.

This important designation meant that there was evidence that omega 3s may reduce the risk of heart disease. It is not easy in the U.S. right now for over-the-counter supplements and nutrients to get this kind of strong backing, but perhaps this is just the beginning.

The following benefits of Omega 3s have also been suggested (please contact the author through the pages that are linked in the signature box for reference information):

People with circulation problems, the most well-known perhaps being varicose veins, benefit from fish oil.

Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce symptoms of ADHD in children (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder).

With Omega 3 supplementation, some children have had improved academic performance when they have previously struggled to learn.

There have also been animal studies that have suggested that omega 3s might help decrease memory loss of people who are older

Omega 3 fatty acids have been found to have an anti-inflammatory property that can help with neck pain and rheumatoid arthritis

Women who ate fish containing omega 3s during their first trimester had over 3 times less risk of low birth weight and premature birth.

Some studies have shown that there is a deficit in omega-3 fatty acids in many people with depression, and other studies have shown that omega-3 supplementation reduced depressive symptoms.

There are some people who should not take omega 3 fatty acid supplementation, so it is important that if you have a medical diagnosis you check with your doctor before taking omega 3s (For example, people with congestive heart failure and chronic recurrent angina may be told not to take these supplements).

There used to be concern that the fish oils sold for consumption, even in gels, contained heavy metals that were dangerous to your health. However, the fish oil industry has taken many steps to improve this and ensure they are safe. You can contact the maker of the supplement you are considering and ask about the current safety of their fish oil or fish oil gels.

Beyond supplements, the most widely available source of omega 3s are cold water fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies and sardines. Other fish such as tuna also contain omega-3 in somewhat lesser amounts.

Some people, particularly vegetarians and people who are concerned about the mercury and other heavy metal content, choose to take flax seed oil supplements instead of fish oil. However, while flax seed oil is six times richer than most fish oils in omega-3, the actual omega 3 chemical in flax seed oil is called ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). This chemical, in turn must be converted to other forms to be fully effective in the ways mentioned above, and this process is not very efficient, especially as one gets older. Fish oil contains the end-state chemicals already, so no conversion is necessary.

It is clear that there are strong reasons to supplement with omega 3 fatty acids, and more specific benefits are being discovered every day. As always, you should consult with your health care provider before taking a nutritional supplement, so think about asking her or him about omega 3s today.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids have been getting a lot of attention lately in the news, the scientific community and doctor’s offices around the world. But what are they? And why have they become the next big thing in heart health?

While the term “fatty” seems negative, Omega-3 fatty acids actually provide “good” fats which help support the health of the cardiovascular system, maintain triglyceride and cholesterol levels and, according to the Food and Drug Administration, possibly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in men. In addition, they assist in promoting a healthy brain function, controlling mood levels and supporting healthy joints and muscular mobility.

Several studies show that international populations whose diets consist of large amounts of foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids have lesser instances of heart disease and cholesterol problems. The Mediterranean diet in particular relies heavily on many servings of fish, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, and uses very little red meat and saturated fats. This diet has been associated with lower levels of cholesterol and healthy heart function. European doctors are so impressed with the effects of Omega-3 fatty acids that Omega-3-rich foods and supplements are often recommended to patients suffering or recovering from cardiovascular problems.

Fish oil capsules and Omega-3 supplements may not be regularly prescribed by American doctors yet, but many medical sources recognize that people who maintain a healthy, well-balanced diet consisting of many servings of fruit, vegetables and fish such as salmon, trout and mackerel have stronger, healthier hearts and better health overall. Even the American Heart Association recommends that people consume foods rich in Omega-3 such as fatty fish (mackerel, tuna, etc.) at least twice a week.

Unfortunately, men’s busy schedules often leave little time to prepare or consume meals high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Add to that the fact that some fish available to consumers does not contain the high levels of Omega-3 due to being farm raised. To insure you’re receiving the necessary Omega-3 fatty acids from a pure source, consider adding a daily supplement containing high concentrations of Omega-3.

Look for supplements that contain pharmaceutical-grade ingredients that provide the best ratio of EPA/DHA and are carefully distilled to remove all hazardous PCB, toxins and mercury particles. A balanced diet high in Omega-3 fatty acids and regular exercise today can mean a healthy heart for years to come.

Lately we have all heard so much about omega 3, and its many health benefits. When I turn my radio on in the morning, there are at least 3 Omega 3 advertisements in a 1 hour period.

Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids found in certain fish tissues, and in vegetable sources. A number of years ago, I did not hear of Omega 3. Well, not to any great extend anyways. Today, Omega 3 is mentioned on radio shows and television shows.

It is written about in newspapers and magazines. And as is so often quoted, boy did our moms who fed us cod liver oil know what they were doing; even if they did not recognize the exact scientific reason behind it. I research this topic with great interest.

Here are some facts and figures to make you take note. Various scientific studies have now linked omega-3 fatty acids with a reduction in the risk of developing deadly diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and most recently Alzheimer’s. And, in the anti inflammation fight, once again, Dr. Barry Sears leads the way in the science of human nutrition with his new breakthrough book, “The Anti-Inflammation Zone” in which he uncovers a new way to define wellness. The absence of silent inflammation.

In this book, Dr. Sears answers critical questions: What is Silent Inflammation What causes this offender How do you know if you have it Why is it a curse to your health. How you can reduce it. We often hear of people having heart attacks out of the blue and dying instantly. Some of these heart attacks may have been averted if certain health conditions were known beforehand. Pro self help in health care is one of the biggest advantages we can give ourselves.

But how do you know if you really need this important supplement and how would you know what you are taking is working? The Omega 3 Profile + blood test provides the answers.

The Omega 3 Profile + provides the data you need to: Reduce your risk of dying of a heart attack by 70% Reduce your risk of developing heart disease by 32% Control silent inflammation – which can lead to deadly diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Cancer, ADD, and Arthritis if left uncontrolled Increase circulation Show you if you are getting enough omega-3’s from your diet The Omega 3 Profile + (a complete Essential Fatty Acid panel) is a specialized test offered exclusively by Your Future Health (YFH). This is the same test featured in Dr. Barry Sears’ book, the Omega Rx Zone. The Omega 3 Profile + does not require a physician’s order and is strongly recommended for anyone who takes a pro-active approach to wellness.

More importantly, you can positively change this bio-marker, and your future, in less than 30 days. A pre-alert today could have a dramatic impact on your future health and longevity. There is no doubt that the omega-3 fatty acids are essential to health. They are fundamental molecules in the structure and activity of the membranes of all cells throughout the body. They also have highly specialized functions in neurological tissues, especially the brain and retina.

Because of their role in cell membranes, omgega-3 fatty acids are essential for the formation of new tissue and are therefore important for development and growth. Omega-3 Fatty Acids (EPA/DHA) are Among the Most Powerful Nutrients Available to Help Reduce Silent Inflammation. History has shown and scientists have found that the Eskimos of Greenland suffered very little from coronary heart disease despite a diet very high in fat. The primary source of fat in their diet came from sea mammals, which contain high amounts of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids.

The American Heart Association recommends healthy people eat omega-3 fatty acids from fish and plant sources to protect their hearts. I came across this information while researching Omega 3. “News release, American College of Cardiology” The inflammation-fighting effects of omega-3 fatty acids may be the key behind fish’s heart-healthy benefits, according to a new study. Dr. Barry Sears has been writing about this very topic for years.

Researchers found inflammation markers, such as C-reactive protein and others, were up to a third lower in people who ate at least 10 ounces of fish per week compared with those didn’t eat fish. The more fish the people ate, especially fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon, mackerel, and tuna, the lower their level of markers of inflammation in the bloodstream. The omega-3s have proven physical health benefits, and now they are also demonstrating impressive results in the treatment of mental imbalance leading to anti-social behavior, learning difficulties, schizophrenia and depression.

The human brain is unique within the animal world in that it forms a greater proportion of body weight than in other species. It is also unique in its composition. Of the solid (non-water) matter in the brain 60% is fat, or lipid, and of that, polyunsaturates form the biggest component. We are now learning that diet can alter brain composition and brain function.

A fish-rich diet helps keep the mind sharp. Previous studies found that people who ate fish lowered their risk of Alzheimer’s disease and stroke. Fish such as salmon and tuna that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids also have been shown to prevent heart disease.

Do you want to be around to play with your grandchildren? Go for a walk in the park? Be there for your child’s graduation? Do you want to enjoy great middle age, old age? Then you need to take control of your health, your well being. Now, Today. Can Omega 3 help you achieve this? Study! Research! Read Dr. Barry Sears, and find out what he has to say.

As America ages, pain related problems from knees, hips, and joints as well as sore muscles become an increasing issue. Americans are seeking relief from pain and looking for alternatives to prescription drugs. In the past 10 years, nutritional supplements have been becoming increasingly popular as Americans are becoming more aware of how supplements can improve their quality of life as they age.

Pharmaceutical companies come out with pain and anti-inflammatory drugs all the time; people are afraid of the yet unknown side effects that may follow the consumption of these existing and new drugs. Lucky for us, new research is coming out every month about natural remedies that can be an alternative to prescription drugs. One of these natural remedies is omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Omega-3 oil is found both in cold water fish and plants such as flax seed and hemp seed. The active ingredients that make omega-3 oil so powerful are eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) fatty acids. The body needs essential fatty acids to make regulatory hormones, when one supplements omega-3 in their diet, the body can use the EPA and DHA to make anti-inflammatory compounds to help fight pain.

With more than 2000 journals, 5000 human studies, and 14,000 abstracts on omega-3, research has clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of omega-3 as a supplement. With this wealth of information, the FDA has re-evaluated its label law with omega-3 essential fatty acids to include health claims that state omega-3 can help protect against heart disease.

Recent research has shown omega-3 oil to posses anti-inflammatory properties which can help ease joint pain in individuals. A recent study published in the Journal “Pain” reported on 17 different studies ranging from rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease to painful menstruation. The findings showed that by supplementing omega-3 oil on a daily basis consistently reduced the pain these people experienced. This reduction in pain included pain from tender joints and PMS. Also, reported was the use of anti-inflammatory medications dropped.

The greatest results were observed after 3 months of continual use, but most of the studies were only 3 months long, further research should be conducted to determine if greater results would occur with 6 or even 9 months of continuous us,e which may lead to even further pain relief.

Several of the authors suggested omega-3 oil to be used with other chronic inflammatory pains like osteoarthritis and chronic back pain. We hope that more clinical studies will continue to reveal more of the powerful effects of omega-3 on the body.

Studies are going to be conducted on Alzheimer’s and omega-3. Researchers are going to evaluate whether omega-3 fatty acid DHA, when taken over the course of months can slow the progression of mental decline in Alzheimer’s patients with an 18 month duration, researchers will measure cognitive function to see of omega-3 is a benefit.

Another fact, in the United States, over 374,000 visits to the hospital is related to Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). By simply taking two 1000mg pills of omega-3 oil can save the health care system approximately $3.2 billion in hospitalizations and associated physician fees over five years. So for those of you, who want to boost over all health and wellness and prevent CHD, don’t forget to take your Omega-3 oil every day.

When looking for a good omega-3 oil, don’t forget that not all omega-3 is made the same. Look for an oil that is molecularly distilled to remove heavy metals, pesticides, and mercury. Also, read the label and make sure the oil has a small amount of vitamin E as an antioxidant to preserve the oil from going rancid and spoiling. Quality omega-3 fish oil can be found at your local or internet vitamin store.

More and more it is becoming apparent how important omega-3 fatty acids are to health. But is it really necessary to supplement?

First you have to understand that supplementing with Omega-3 fatty acids does not give you “extra” of these beneficial fats. In fact, most supplementation recommendations probably give most people the minimum they need to balance the other fats in their diets. Studies of different indigenous societies (with low rates of chronic diseases like arthritis and heart disease) typically consume omega-6 and omega-3 fats in about a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio:1 to 2:1. Currently in the United States, that ratio ranges from 20:1 to more than 30:1!

Why the huge difference? First of all, grains and most commercially produced vegetable oils are primarily omega-6 fats and these are staples in the modern American diet. In addition, the main dietary source of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet of Americans used to be from poultry, eggs, meats, and fish. What do I mean used to be? Don’t we still eat those foods in relatively large quantities? Yes, but what those foods are being fed has changed.

In the past, meat and poultry products were from animals that ate insects and/or plants that were available naturally in their environment. Plants and insects have high levels of omega-3 fats, so the animals eating them are going to be high in omega-3 fats too. Today though, most commercially raised meat, poultry, eggs, and even farm-raised fish, are fed primarily grain – which is high in omega-6 fats, not omega-3’s, so the meat, eggs, and fish are also high in omega-6. This combined with our own tendency to eat a lot of grain-based foods has led to a dramatic shift in the ratio of fats in our diets.

This shift in the dietary fat ratio with very little omega-3’s being consumed sets us up for a wide variety of health problems. Because omega-3’s are essential to a number of biochemical processes, the lack of these important fats has led to a general increase in problems that include depression, inflammatory conditions (such as arthritis and allergies/asthma), and cardiovascular disease. There is even speculation that a lack of omega-3’s may be at least partially involved in the development of neurodegenerative disorders and some types of cancer.

With the exception of the unusual person who does not eat a lot of grains and also consumes mostly free-range meats and wild game/fish, I highly recommend supplementing with 1000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids every day. Omega-3 supplements are usually made from fish oil, or may be from krill oil. Either way, as long as you make sure to buy from reputable companies that use independent labs to certify the purity and potency of their supplements, you will be fine.

For those who are strict vegans and do not consume animal products of any kind, I suggest using flax seed oil supplements(at least 1000 mg per day). Flax oil is not high in omega-3’s but the fats in it can be converted to omega-3 in the body in most individuals. There are some people who cannot efficiently make the conversion to the needed omega-3’s, and if you are having problems with depression and/or inflammatory conditions despite taking flax oil, you may want to consider fish oil, or you may want to try walnut oil (which is high in omega-3’s). Another option is to try evening primrose or borage oil , as these contain fatty acids that don’t require as much conversion in the body to produce omega-3 fats.

There are 3 main types of omega-3 fatty acids: Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Alpha-Linolenic acid (ALA). They are considered essential as they are not produced by the body and therefore must be derived from food. It is of the upmost importance for people to have a rich dietary intake of omega-3. Omega-3s especially EPA and DHA are found abundantly in marine oils. As a result many companies have developed fish oil supplements to provide consumers with the omega-3 that their diet lacks.

These fish oil supplements due to technological limitations and cost were formulated using the conventional way of extracting omega-3 from fish by applying heat and/or chemical solvents. It is now suggested that omega-3 fatty acids extracted this way might have isomeric byproducts (chemically altered components that form under heat) or residues from the chemical solvents.

It is also becoming increasingly apparent that while these supplements contain fish oil, they lack purity, which means that in most cases they contain only as little as 30% omega-3. And we know that it is omega-3 not fish oil that provides the extraordinary health benefits.

The good news is that there are now purer omega-3 fish oil products available. recoup|90 an omega-3 sports supplement, is produced with the most pure omega-3 fish oil in the world using environmentally friendly, proprietary super-critical fluid technology. This technology applies pressure instead of heat or solvents which allows for the production of omega-3 fatty acids of unsurpassed quality and purity, while ensuring that there is no risk of formation of isomeric byproducts, of exposure to contamination and of residual solvents in the end product.

To ensure the product is of the highest purity it is required to meet 50 stringent purity parameters. The main purity tests concern oxidation products such as peroxides, heavy metals such as cadmium, mercury and lead as well as pollutants such as PCBs, dioxins and pesticides.

Sports medicine experts have been among the first people to discover the huge disparity between pure omega 3 products and regular fish oils found in retail stores. As a result today an increasing number of athletes and active individuals take only high quality and pure omega-3 fish oil.

They have also discovered that unlike regular fish oil supplements, pure omega-3 fish oil products that contain as much as 300% higher concentrations of omega-3 deliver additional therapeutic benefits such as accelerated post workout recovery and a reduction in muscle and joint soreness.

Recognizing the value of pure omega-3 fish oils in sports, recoup|90 was developed and released as the world’s first omega-3 sports supplement. recoup|90 contains a remarkable 90% omega 3 making it the purest omega 3 sports supplement available. recoup|90 is a product of excellent and unsurpassed quality and purity. Its unique formulation not only provides active people with the well documented cardiovascular and health benefits but also due to its pronounced anti-inflammatory properties it effectively helps accelerate post workout recovery, and reduce muscle and joint soreness.

The benefits of Omega 3 EPA DHA fish oil to our health is the single most important discovery of the last fifty years. The lack of fish in our diets replaced with an over-abundance of Omega 6 plant oils ALA, such as flaxseed oil, soybean, vegetable has created a health epidemic in America. From chronic inflammation to Alzheimers, to ten million prescriptions being written last year for children under the age of 12 with ADD or ADHD, the awareness of damage universally to health in America from the elimination of fish in our diets is shocking.

Food Manufacturers’ Misleading Labeling

What is even more shocking is our food manufacturers distorting and disregarding the harm caused to American health by mislabeling Omega 3 on their products when they’ve added more Omega 6 instead. And the trusting, unsuspecting American who hasn’t the time to delve into the confusing research jumps on the Omega 3 bandwagon buying products off the shelf hoping they purchased something good for their health. From Omega 3 eggs to Omega 3 bread, the addition of Omega 3 in their product is plant derived, the culprit. Little did the consumer know they just added more chronic inflammation to their bodies.

Center for Science In The Public Interest (CSPI)

“Research shows that omega-3s found only in fish and some plants are “good” fatty acids, and help prevent heart disease. But the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) says consumers are being hoodwinked when it comes to omega-3 eggs. These egg producers, egged on by their trade association, is brazenly putting omega-3 claims in big print on the front of the labels, knowing that that is a buzzword that will attract people,” says Michael Jacobson of the CSPI.

On Thursday the organization called on the FDA to enforce its own regulations and stop the egg industry from using what it calls misleading labels and advertising. “It’s like using filtered cigarettes to prevent cancer. It ain’t gonna happen. These eggs are loaded with cholesterol, which promotes heart disease,” Jacobson claims.

“It’s not just economic fraud, which it is, but it is a serious health problem,” Jacobson argues”.

The egg industry isn’t the only culprit of economic fraud. It is rampant throughout the food manufacturing industry and we’re falling for it. And the FDA and the USDA, the watch dogs for American health, tightly bound to the food manufacturers allows this to continue. Michael Jacobson calls it economic fraud – my feelings run more to gross injustice, unethical, and the single most damaging mislabeling of foods to American health. And now meats.

The USDA Gives Approval for Omega 3 Labeling On Meats

“Natural and Organic Food Group, Inc. (NOFG) announced today that the company has obtained USDA approval for a full line of Omega 3 DELI products under the PEI PORK brand. First to market, NOFG’S product portfolio include Omega 3 Hot Dogs, Omega 3 sliced and bulk Ham, Omega 3 Kielbasy, Omega 3 Bologna and Omega 3 Bacon all under the PEI PORK brand. In addition to the high Omega 3 content that has a perfect Healthy Balance™ ratio with Omega 6, the Omega 3 DELI line features NO MSG, GLUTEN FREE and NO FILLERS.”

“Our animals are fed a wholesome diet of primarily roasted soybeans and flaxseed which provide a flavorful culinary experience”. NOFG’S PEI PORK Omega 3 DELI products provide enough Omega 3 fatty acids to supply the FDA recommended daily allowance for a North American adult.

Let’s Clear The Stage For The Truth

There are three essential fatty acids we must have in balance – ALA derived from plant oils, and EPA and DHA derived from fish oils. Flax seed oil, soybean oil, other vegetable oils, have so proliferated the American diet, the statistics show the ratios in our bodies are a shocking 20 plant oils to 1 (less than) fish oil. In the high Omega 3 content of this line of food, they have added high amounts of ALA (Omega 6) from flaxseed oil and soybean oil they proudly feed their animals for you to consume.

Medical communities from Harvard to UCLA to the National Institutes of Health, with scores in between, daily publish research and studies showing Omega 6 at the core of the health epidemic in America. Why? An over-abundance of ALA, in simple terms, produces arachidonic acid which begins a vicious cycle of chronic inflammation. And chronic inflammation is at the core of every disease we have.

The argument is given, some plant oils may convert ALA to EPA and DHA but the truth is, without going into a lengthy discussion of long chains, our bodies ability to convert plant derived ALA to anything that is good for our health is nill. This small yet critical detail has confused the American public more than any other single element to the Omega 3 craze. And the shocking proof of that is the continued and daily documented rise in disease in America from an over-abundance of ALA seed oils.

We Are Floating In ALA Plant Oils

Americans are attracted to the buzzword “Omega 3” and rarely question the integrity of our food manufacturers. Nor do they suspect the greatest breakthrough in medicine today is being manipulated to line the coffers of the food industry for they rely on the FDA to alert the public. They’ll read an announcement that the USDA gave full approval for a line of meat products being labeled “Omega 3″ and buy them for their doctor said, add Omega 3. But the doctor said, add Omega 3 fish oil.

The distinction between the two is so critical yet the free license of food manufacturers to cash in on the Omega 3 band wagon grows more each day to the detriment of our health. And the FDA, USDA and can’t grasp and agree and instead ignore the medical science that is abundantly clear. They have all become the most ineffectual government agencies of all time yet hold the most power to determine what is good for health in America.

It is of the utmost importance to your health that you understand the difference. Omega 3 (6) derived from plant oils is the culprit – flaxseed oil, soybean oil, vegetable oils (ALA) that without going into lengthy understanding of long chains, is Omega 6. Omega 3 EPA and DHA is derived from fish oil.

Finding A Good Fish Oil Supplement

The only way to bring the balance of oils to a 1:1 ratio as they were intended from evolution is through adding pure Omega 3 EPA DHA fish oil from a reputable manufacturer of fish oils. Not a dealer, reseller or retailer for their oils have been purchased in 50 gallon drums, source and origin of fish unknown, sat in warehouses for six months then shipped to a plant for rendering into capsule form. Those oils lack the right source of fish and purification process needed to effect a change in your health. Those dealers, resellers and retailers of inferior fish oil are as unethical and as guilty of committing economic fraud as are food manufacturers for both take advantage of consumer trust.

If you purchase a fish oil product that says it contains EPA and DHA, moleculary distilled, consume the equivalent of one teaspoon a day or 20 capsules at 500 milligrams each for 30 days and have felt no relief or change in your health, it isn’t going to come. The American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health recommends one gram a day to maintain health, and up to 4 grams and more for challenging health issues. One gram a day is 20 capsules, not four!

Freebies, Two For One’s, Half Price

The shelves of stores and the internet are proliferated with fish oil supplements, half price, two for one, free bottles, and while we all love a good deal, we want good health more for without that, life holds little joy. Molecular distillation is an expensive process requiring skill, trained personnel, exposure and timing of distilling oils critical, special equipment, all of which must begin with the right fatty fish. For a manufacturer of anything at all to stay in business, those costs must be part of the purchase price. And in fish oil supplements, it speaks to the quality you’ll receive. Let common sense guide you in your purchase of fish oil and let the results in your health be the only indicator that matters.

Did your blood pressure come down, cholesterol numbers change, feel the difference in pain? Do you feel mentally brighter and clear headed? All these things and much more will come from pure EPA and DHA. Once you balance the fatty acids of fish oils to plant oils to a 1:1 ratio, your body will respond in ways that will amaze and delight you and your physician. Of all the discoveries in modern science and medicine of the last 50 years, this one holds universal true for all of mankind, from children to aging seniors.

By: Lois Smithers

About the Author:
